Funeral Escorts to Resume

In less than two weeks, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office will resume funeral escorts.  The southern tradition was halted last year when the sheriff was locked in a budget battle with county commissioners.  Sheriff David Morgan says they will begin phasing in funeral escorts on October 15th.  Morgan had cancelled the escorts citing manpower shortage and costs.  The budget agreement reached with commissioners in April provides for pay raises through additional funding for the department.
