I wanted to drop a line to compliment Rob Williams and the morning show on AM 1620. My family and I have just moved here from Gainesville, FL were we lived for 12 years. My wife was recruited by a major medical provider in the area. Some asked why we’d move to a sleepy town in “LA”, but I think P-cola has potential.
In my short time here, the morning show has provided great insight and local knowledge that will help our family quickly become an integral part of this community. I can even get a sense of the local economy by the types of, and frequency of, certain commercials that are played.
I have a background in media, working as a media buyer in the agency setting, and actually sold airtime for two Entercom stations in Gainesville about 10 years ago. So I have a little knowledge of how the radio industry is getting squeezed, and it is increasingly hard to have a local feel. It is nice to see a locally owned radio group (NewsRadio1620 and Cat Country) producing talented local entertainment. My only criticism might be less Dave Ramsey, but Dennis Miller is a great alternative to “The Godfather”.
